It's Cage Time! We have a new Mortal Kombat game behind us (which we spend some time talking about, too, with the new updates), and a live-action movie ahead of us. What left is there to talk about? The new animated Mortal Kombat Legends movie: Cage Match, and all its neon-80's goodness! No doubt all MK fans have seen it by now, so spoilers be damned, join us for a chat about the film's pros and cons, as well as a bit of 80's nostalgia.

Ep.42 - MK1: Our First Impressions

We've given it a few weeks and we're here with our first thoughts on Mortal Kombat 1! We start with gameplay and new features, going over what's better than MK11 and what's not, and then we gush about the story for the second half, and of course have a few laughs along the way. And we argue about... Broadway? We have a lot to talk about, and the three hours are well spent. You might ask yourself, can I really afford to spare so much time to listen to someone else's thoughts when I should just be playing the game myself? But the question you should ask yourself is, can you afford not to?

Ep.41 - It’s Deadly Alliance Time

It's time for Kombat once again! In threee deee! While we all wait on pins and needles for MK1's release, the Kombat Krew takes a moment to dive into the first of the PS2-era games, Deadly Alliance. And though we've spoken negatively about this era of the franchise, we ended up actually liking it! We also take about (checks watch) forty minutes to talk about all the MK1 trailer reveal news that we've missed as we get hype for the New Era. So tie up your red headband and beware of backstabbing sorcerers as we dive in to a meaty helping of Kombat, past and present.

Ep.40 - Battle of ”Thea” Realms (and Tattoos)

They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Well, we're not sure how flattering these two particular games are. The Kombat Krew takes a break from their favorite franchise to talk about two games that failed in mimicking it: Thea Realm Fighters and Tattoo Assassins! We also talk some news that's admittedly outdated by now: our thoughts on the second MK1 gameplay trailer, Karl Urban being confirmed as our new movie Johnny Cage, and the zany-sounding next Legends movie. We're pretty hype about Li Mei, Tanya, and Baraka too, but that will be for another episode!

Ep.38 - Mortal Kombat 1 Hype is Here!!

It's finally here! The trailer for MK12... er, we mean MK1... dropped last Thursday to deafening fanfare, a call heard around the world: Mortal Kombat! What year is it? Our heads are swimming as we sift through the details in the trailer and speculate about story, gameplay, and guest characters. Towards the end we also talk about the news of Karl Urban potentially being Johnny Cage in the next movie, the pros and cons of physical vs. digital media, and the WGA writer's strike. Ep.37 -Saturday Morning Kombat

Ep.35 - We Need to Talk about Special Forces (with Neal)

The first era of Mortal Kombat games ends not with a bang, but a whimper. We finally conclude the first leg of our journey by playing Mortal Kombat: Special Forces for the Playstation. This time all three of us actually gave it a spin, and so has Final Neal of MK Podquest , who returns to help us dissect what is often considered to be the worst Mortal Kombat game. But is it really the worst? We take an honest look, have some deep conversation, talk about some movies, and Neal also gets executed.
