Ep.20 - The Sound of MK Music
Wednesday Feb 02, 2022
Wednesday Feb 02, 2022
The Mortal Kombat games contain some of the most iconic music in video games, thanks to the legendary Dan Forden. And to think that it all started by creating music through coding. We try our best to talk about the music in the first three MK games across the major platforms and make failed attempts to sing/hum the various stage tracks (sorry in advance lol).
We also take a moment to discuss some news, such as the announcement of a new writer for the MK 2021 sequel and Ed Boon’s induction into the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences hall of fame! We have a lot to talk about this episode, so get comfy and also let us know: which MK game has your favorite music?

Ahh! MK Trilogy soundtrack is significantly different! First off…all the tempos are slowed down from the UMK3 version as well as being pitched down I believe 2 half steps making them all feel much darker in tone than the amped up arcade versions. Also mixes and pieces within the tunes are definitely different and it contains MK1 stages that I can’t remember as I’m writing this but I’m pretty sure must be updated versions from the arcade. Trilogy is my favorite OST to vibe on.
